GamingMalta | Silvio Schembri | Malta Vision 2050
The Malta Unity Game Jam welcomed Minister Silvio Schembri, who visited MCAST this weekend to meet participants and see their work first-hand as Unity x GamingMalta continues to support hands-on game development in Malta.
During his visit, the Minister engaged with students and teams as they developed playable prototypes using the Unity engine, gaining insight into how participants are applying their skills in real development scenarios. Industry mentors and Unity experts on site guided teams through challenges, helping shape their projects as they progressed.
Minister Schembri highlighted the role of initiatives like the Game Jam in strengthening Malta's position within the video game development sector, while supporting growth in high-value digital industries such as interactive entertainment and immersive technologies.
With over 40 participants across 11 teams, the Game Jam reflects the impact of the Unity Centre of Excellence programme led by GamingMalta, connecting education with industry and supporting the next generation of developers.
As outlined in Malta Vision 2050, building a strong digital economy starts with investing in talent. The Malta Unity Game Jam continues to create opportunities for students to develop practical skills and take their first steps into the industry.
We look forward to seeing you!
